I will be making a short speech in front of about 200 coworkers and our wives poking fun of our VP and field manager, presenting a canvas print of the two of them suited up and looking silly. Everyone will get a laugh and they dont know about it. Just the girls in the office know as they approved and ordered the print.

My company “””party””” is next weekend. To demonstrate what kind of party it is, the President gets up front with a microphone and leads us in prayer before they serve catered food. Overall still a good time. Last year some of us went downtown right afterwards and got trashed.

That’s how the machine tool company I worked summers at was. The President was a big time holy roller who owned one of those obnoxious “hellfire and brimstone” radio stations too. As long as you avoided that their Swiss Oktoberfest parties were a blast.

I guess my idea of a good company event is: good food right off the grill, beer and wine, maybe a few bad speeches about teamwork but that’s fine. Ours tend to be scheduled to the T, but hey: they pay me money so I shall comply.

Mine is next Saturday at a coworker’s house. I’m not looking forward to being the only single person there (at 30, i’m also one of the older ones there, which is even worse), but I am looking forward to getting trashed.
